What it is

A conversation, not a curriculum.

This book is not a formula. It is not a checklist or a strategy session. It is a conversation — one I wish someone would have had with me years ago.

It was shaped by personal experience and by years spent walking alongside leaders, volunteers, and believers who love Jesus but feel worn down by performance, pressure, and expectations. I have seen how easy it is to confuse activity with intimacy, titles with identity, and success with faithfulness — because I have done it myself.

At its core, BORN is about remembering. Remembering who you are, whose you are, and why that matters in everyday life. Identity is not something we achieve or prove. It is something we return to. And once identity is clear, obedience stops feeling confusing, and legacy stops being accidental.

I do not write from theory. I write from lived experience — through seasons of calling, collapse, surrender, and renewal. My hope is that you do not walk away feeling motivated for a moment, but anchored for the long haul.

“The enemy’s first attack in the garden wasn’t on what humanity could do; it was on who they were.”

Inside

Three movements

BORN is built in three parts, and the order is the argument. You cannot obey your way into an identity you have not received, and you cannot leave a legacy out of a life you are still trying to justify.

Each movement ends where the next one has to begin. Read straight through, or take one movement at a time with a group.

I — Identity
Given, not earned. The labels come off and what is underneath is still there.
II — Ultimatum
The sacred, costly invitation to follow Jesus past comfort and into calling.
III — Legacy
Multiplication. How today echoes into eternity and outlasts you.

Who it’s for

If any of this
sounds familiar

  • You are doing the right things and still feel disconnected from why you started.
  • Your title is doing more work than your identity is.
  • You are serving faithfully and running on fumes at the same time.
  • You lead volunteers or staff who are quietly burning out and you do not know how to fix it.
  • You sense there is more than staying busy, but “more” keeps getting defined as “more of the same.”
  • You want a legacy you chose, not one that happened to you.
